Outreach Ministries

Mission Central HUB:

Volunteers assemble kits (Layette kits, health kits, school kits, cleaning buckets, personal care kits, activity kits, sleeping mats for homeless, jean quilts) to be shipped across our country and to other 3rd world countries as well. Supplies for these kits can be donated at First UMC. Needed supplies and special collections are announced in First Facts. You can be a volunteer at the HUB too! HUB volunteers are needed each Monday and Wednesday, 1-3pm, at the Altoona location 1738 North Branch Avenue, Altoona, 16601 (814-201-2123).  For more information contact Marty Shiffler, mjshif76@aol.com.  For more information, visit www.missioncentral.org.

American Rescue Workers:

Located in Hollidaysburg, the ARW currently supports a food pantry, a clothing room distribution, furniture and household goods and limited financial assistance for those in. At First UMC, there is a red bin inside the portico entrance in which we collect canned goods, empty egg cartons, and plastic grocery bags weekly. We also participate in the Christmas for Kids program each year. See the current First Facts or check out www.arwholly.org for current needs.
