What is Volunteers in Mission (VIM)?We go on mission projects and provide assistance to neighbors in need locally and we've traveled as far west as Kansas to help rebuild after a tornado wiped out the town of Greensburg, KS. We've also traveled to Mississippi on several occasions to help with hurricane Katrina. VIM volunteers have helped flood victims, tornado victims, hurricane victims and people that just cannot help themselves. The type of people we have helped go across a wide range such as pastors, veterans, old people, young people, school teachers and handicap people and so many more. We have listened to stories of despair and frustration of victims trying to restore their homes and lives that have had to endure for years just to make it through each day. VIM has involved over 282 people throughout the mission team and many of these people have gone on multiple mission trips. To date more than 77 families in need have been helped by our teams. A thank-you note from the Mississippi UMC Bishop say PA is a top volunteer state and 13,000 Mississippi families are back in their homes because of these volunteers. Why join VIM?Because that is what God calls us to do. To help the poor and needy, or even those that just need help. To give yourself, your time, your money, but more importantly your love of God. You receive many more blessings than you give.Who we are...Although our mission teams are sponsored by the Regional District of the United Methodist Church, the volunteers are ecumenical and it is amazing to witness the camaraderie that develops among team members with a common goal on each mission. We welcome YOU to join us...To join or support our mission trips you may contact:Marty Shiffler @ 329-1074 First United Methodist Church mjshif76@aol.com and please include VIM in the subject line.
