Lay Leadership Committee
The Lay Leadership Committee oversees the identification and nomination of the volunteer leaders at First UMC. Key responsibilities include preparing the annual nomination slate and ensuring the recruitment and development of faithful leaders. Meetings are held primarily in the fall and early winter.
The Finance Committee is responsible for the raising, managing, and dispersing of the church finances so that the mission of our congregation can be achieved. The committee oversees the financial health of the church, reviews the annual audit, provides financial direction, and communicates the church’s financial condition to the Church Council. Meetings are generally held once a month at 7 p.m.
Staff Parish Relations Committee
The Staff Parish Committee acts as a liaison between the congregation and its staff and clergy. The committee sets employment policy and ensures a fulfilling work environment. Meetings are usually held on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. Members of this committee cannot be related to a First UMC staff member.
Board of Trustees
This board is charged with the care and maintenance of church property so that the facilities can be used to best enable the mission and ministry of the church. Trustees care for the church’s property, buildings, and equipment. Meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. Trustees must be at least 18 years of age.
The Endowment Committee promotes planned gifts. It receives, invests, and administers bequests and legacy gifts for the First UMC Endowment. The funds from the endowment are used to fund capital improvement projects. The Committee meets as needed, 2-4 times a year.
