At First United Methodist Church of Hollidaysburg kids matter, to God and to us! Our children are a big part of our church family and we are working hard to help families introduce children to God, and help them grow up knowing His love and grace. Through our multiple ministries, scripture and stories are brought to life in creative ways, helping kids apply these lessons to their own lives.
Our mission is to minister to children and their families by sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ so that life-long relationships with Jesus and the extended church family will have an eternal impact on the surrounding community and world. We continue striving to create interesting and developmentally appropriate ways to teach the foundations of Christian faith and encourage life-long, faith filled journeys for our children.

Stay and Play Preschool:
The Stay and Play Preschool Program is designed around the idea that children need full, happy, and flexible experiences. Emphasis is placed on the needs of the individual child to develop self confidence and independence through creative play and directed activities in a Christian atmosphere.
Each class curriculum is designed to encompass five areas of learning: personal/social, fine motor, gross motor, language, and cognitive. A developmental approach is employed beginning with the simple and building to the complex. Realizing that although there are specific ages at which the “average” child achieves a given skill, each child is different, and we attempt to reach our goals while respecting each child’s achievement level.
The various sessions are staffed by trained personnel with experience in early childhood. Each curriculum is planned by a certified teacher. Each class is directed by two teachers, resulting in a ratio of seven children to one adult. The school provides developmental screening, parent-teacher conferences, and referral services.
